The article, titled “Grammar-Aware Coverage-Guided Fuzzing with Grammarinator and AFL++”, authored by Dr. Renáta Hodován and Dr. Ákos Kiss has been presented at the International Workshop on Validation, Analysis and Evolution of Software Tests (VST) workshop of the SANER 2026 conference.
The paper discusses how the rapid growth of AI-generated code increases the need for automated software testing, particularly fuzzing techniques. It highlights the strengths and limitations of coverage-guided and grammar-based fuzzing and introduces an improved approach by integrating the Grammarinator tool into the AFL++ framework. This combined method leverages both grammar-based generation and mutation of test cases, resulting in higher code coverage and more effective bug detection than existing state-of-the-art fuzzers.
