Dr. Attila Kertész was invited to give a talk about the simulation capabilities of the DISSECT-CF-Fog simulator on the 23rd of June at the University of Klagenfurt.
In the talk, “Simulation and Behavior Analysis Approaches of the Cloud-to-Thing Continuum”, he introduced the Cloud-to-Thing Continuum, which integrates IoT, Cloud, and Fog Computing to manage massive, dynamic data from billions of smart devices. It highlighted how Blockchain can enhance accountability, and how simulation – specifically via the DISSECT-CF-Fog simulator – can be used to model and analyze such complex systems. Key focus areas include execution time, resource and energy usage, and cost.
The talk presented an overview of the simulation capabilities of the DISSECT-CF-Fog simulator and its recent development directions, which were triggered by the issues raised by the Swarmchestrate EU-funded research project. The simulator aims to combine emerging technologies to create a completely decentralized autonomous and self-organized application management system suitable to manage hybridized applications that span across different layers of the dynamic compute continuum.
