VR glasses on the crime scene

The European Union-funded Security Project VICTORIA, launched in May 2017, aimed to facilitate the investigation of law enforcement agencies with advanced image analysis methods. For this purpose, the participants of the VICTORIA project have developed an open, ethical, and legal Video Analysis Platform prototype (VAP).

The system is capable of putting together a 4D reconstruction of the crime scene that one can walk around in with VR glasses, and identify possible culprits with advanced facial recognition. Since the project has ended last year, police forces have already started testing the system.

Dr. Alexin Zoltán (Department of Software Engineering) was a member of the project's data protection advisory board. You can read more about the project in Hungarian in his interview!
