Institute of Informatics

The Institute of Informatics was formed in 1990. Its main aim is offering high quality education in the field of Informatics and Computer Science.

The institute consists of six departments: Department of Computational Optimization, Department of Computer Algorithms and Artificial Intelligence, Department of Foundations of Computer Science, Department of Image Processing and Computer Graphics, Department of Technical Informatics and Department of Software Engineering. The HAS (Hungarian Academy of Sciences) Research Group on Artificial Intelligence works in close cooperation with the institute both in the field of education and in the field of research.

The institute supports the international education of its students. As a result of participating in international projects, many students have had the opportunity to study abroad.
Our students can participate in the research activities conducted at the departments, and after graduation they can continue their research within the framework of our PhD program. Due to the great scientific work, every year high quality thesis papers are submitted to the National Scientific Student Group by our students.

Department of Software Engineering

The most important mission of the department is to provide our students with the internationally accepted basics of software engineering, and to train them to be able to broaden their scope of knowledge even after finishing their university studies.

The researchers of the department have long been conducting outstanding research activities in the field of software engineering. This is well justified by the high number of scientific publications and the work we have been performing in the organisation of several very important software conferences.

Besides offering regular university courses and PhD and thesis topics for our students, we have been providing special training courses for both businesses and individuals.
